Utility Mapping

Utilities inherently are spread-out geographically over a big area of a city, state, country etc and it’s a challenge to plan, develop and maintain the associated assets and infrastructure which are in a form of connected networks. Geospatial technology assists in simplifying the network by positioning the assets accurately on Maps and thus making it easier to identify and manage with ground truth visibility.
Accurate and precise network mapping is considered to be an invaluable aid in building, planning, repairing and maintaining all consumers and assets of a Utility. The GIS datasets gets integrated with all proven modeling software tools, ERP and MIS applications, SCADA systems, thus extending the usage of Geospatial technology beyond just mapping.

Intec provides utility mapping in the following fields:
  • Electric: Intec has been supporting many diverse projects in the Electric transmission and distribution domain. Starting from optimizing new transmission line routes using GIS techniques, we have worked up to putting a consumer on the distribution network. We have good understanding of the correct topology rules associated with the electric networks which assists us in offering high quality deliveries in short span of time. We have experience of working on many industry leading products in this domain and thus can deliver and maintain datasets in many formats.
  • Oil and Gas:  Intec has experience in preparing a seamless country-wide Digital Oil and Gas infrastructure datasets. The dataset could comprise of pipelines (Gathering, Transmission and Distribution), facilities (Refineries, Compressor station etc.) and interconnects, attainment of the positional accuracy which help in getting real location of the pipeline corridors and associated assets.
  • Water/ Waste Water: Intec has good experience in water and waste water supply network mapping working on creation of GIS maps of pipelines, pumping stations showing pumps, motors, valves, pipelines, reservoirs etc, collection of attributes and attaching with data, geo-referencing each pump station on base map, Importing GIS dataset in a centralized database system. We have integrated facilities CAD drawings on GIS network making the maintenance and planning activities a much smoother process.
  • Storm water: It’s a neglected department in many utilities and poses much challenge on the planning engineers in designing its routes. With high potential of its reuse and assistance in maintain the underground water tables, GIS can work wonders in efficient planning of its management. GIS techniques can help in designing and analyzing the correct placement of storm water drain inlets, outlets, routes,  filtration facilities, manholes etc
  • Transportation: The transportation network system is important in both supporting and fostering planned growth, maintaining a high quality of life by minimizing traffic conflicts and encouraging pedestrian and vehicle access. Intec has experience of developing street centerline maps from high resolution satellite images, aerial photographs, municipal paper maps or surveyed data. Intec has worked on many E911 datasets supporting the road transport networks with high accuracy demands on the directions and attributions.
Utility mapping involves the following services provided by Intec:
  • GIS ready Base Map and digital database creation from existing hard-copies
  • Digital network routing using remote sensing and field survey
  • Updation of network features using recent imagery sources
  • Preparing and maintaining GIS datasets in industry standard models
  • Integration of surveyed data into GIS
  • Preparation of emergency plans
  • Application development, customization and integration
  • Developing a dynamic, user-friendly modeling tool for the analysis, design, management and operation of both simple and complex networks; providing a complete and effective working environment for sophisticated data.
